History
Enchanted Tools is a French robotics company founded in 2021 by Jérôme Monceaux, who helped develop Nao and Pepper at Aldebaran Robotics, and Samuel Benveniste, former CTO at CEN STIMCO. Together, they launched Enchanted Tools with the goal of advancing humanoid robotics and applying it to real-world needs. Headquartered in Paris, the company has grown to a team of over 100 people and raised €17 million in seed funding, the largest early-stage investment in French robotics to date.
The company’s primary focus is the development of the Mirokaï robots — humanoid machines designed to assist people in everyday environments. The Mirokaï project combines principles from industrial design, robotics engineering, and character design to create robots that are functional, approachable, and visually distinctive.
Since its founding, Enchanted Tools has worked to improve both the technical capabilities and the human interaction features of its robots, aiming to create systems that are not only mechanically reliable but also socially acceptable and engaging in a variety of settings.
The latest generation of Mirokaï robots incorporates a range of technologies that enable them to operate autonomously and interact naturally with people. The robots feature real-time speech recognition, multilingual conversation capabilities, and visual perception that allows them to track faces and understand their surroundings.
The robots feature compliant, torque-controlled arms for precise manipulation, improved hands for object grasping, and an array of sensors for 360-degree environmental awareness. They navigate using visual simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) techniques and are designed to move safely in human environments.
Enchanted Tools has also developed a simulation platform and a developer-friendly API to support integration and customization, reflecting the company’s goal of deploying robots that are practical, adaptable, and, of course, enchanting as well.
