History
UVD Robots is a Danish company making robots that are able to disinfect patient rooms and operating theaters in hospitals. Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Odense, Denmark, UVD Robots is part of Blue Ocean Robotics. UVD Robots spent four years developing a robotic UV disinfection system, which it started selling in 2018. The robot consists of a mobile base equipped with multiple lidar sensors and an array of UV lamps mounted on top. Originally, the robots were developed to address hospital acquired infections, which are a significant problem globally. In 2020 UVD Robots launched its third-generation UV-C disinfection robot, Model C. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the company shipped hundreds of robots all over the world.
